Priego de Córdoba (Córdoba, Andalucía)
Priego de Córdoba (or just Priego) is our largest and nearest town in this area. It has a population of 23,309 and is the administrative centre of the La Subbética region.
It sits beside a fertile plain (the vega) and is surrounded by the circle of mountains of the Parque Natural de la Sierra Subbética whose highest peak is Tiñosa at 1,568 mt or 4,860 ft above sea level. This is also the highest point in the province.
Priego is one of the stops not to be missed on the Caliphate Route, the European Cultural Tour crossing Andalucía from Córdoba to Granada.
This is a town to be enjoyed as it has many parks, an old Arab quarter, castle and interesting shops.
Among its monumental heritage, the visitor can enjoy civil and religious buildings in the Baroque style built during this town’s long centuries of splendour. Priego’s cuisine, made with olive oil with its own Denomination of Origin, completes any tour of the town
